These concrete blocks on the East Coast of England were built prior to the start of WW2 at a time of heightened national security and fear of invasion.

The blocks remain in the landscape, some appear to have been reclaimed by the soft-marshy ground while others stand proud and remind us of our fragile history.

This row of Tank Traps was photographed in sequence, as individuals, their differences are subtle, each one has it’s own individual scars and characteristics.

Tank Trap is one part of a series of sequences that I have photographed of inanimate interventions in the landscape icluding iron benches along the river Thames emabankment, bollards outside the British Museum and 57 Garages in one row, in East London.
